Escorted Amazon Tour Of Iquitos and Pacaya Samiria

This 12 day escorted amazon tour takes best advantage of the location of the town of Iquitos to bring a balance of fantastic Eco-watching experiences with the comfort and accessibility of good accommodation with excellent transport links. This is an escorted Amazon tour that will suit travellers interested in the ecological side of the Amazon rain forest and will be great fun too.

Pacaya Samiria National Park is a natural wonderland where you will discover a myriad of fish plants and other wildlife. Pacaya-Samiria is located in Peru's Amazon region, 100 miles west from Iquitos. It is the only location in Peru and one of the very few in the whole of Amazonas, where manatees can still be found in the wild.

The Reserve located is between the Maranon and Ucayali rivers. These rivers intersect at the north eastern tip of the Reserve.

Whilst in Pacaya Samiria we will be based at the Tambo Cocamas guest house where our hosts will be the Cocamas-Cocamilla people in the Amazon village of San Martin. The Tambo Cocamas is of typical local design, constructed with materials native to the region yet well equipped with bathrooms, hammocks, lanterns and private rooms with mosquito netting and beds. Also included are delicious regional meals, and typical drinks.

Our days in Pacaya Samiria will be spent with local Amazon guides who know the secrets of the Amazon rain forest and will take us on a great adventure to lagoons , walking trails and night excursions. In the evenings you will witness the beauty and tranquillity of some stunning Amazon sunsets reflected in the mirror like black waters of Samiria.

You'll also have the opportunity to meet and barter with the local Cocama and Achual people who make a large variety of unique arts and crafts not found anywhere else in the Amazon jungle.

From Pacaya Samiria we return to Iquitos and take a day relaxing at Quistococha lagoon before moving on to the well equipped Zungarococha lodge. Based in the Amazon rain forest on the edge of a lagoon in the Nanay River you can use the opportunity to fish, walk through the forest, try canoeing through the lagoon or just enjoying sipping cocktails by the pool.

Before leaving we take the opportunity to enjoy a typical Cebiche (fish) lunch and see a little more of Iquitos.

Why not join us for our escorted Amazon tour of Iquitos and Pacaya Samiria. Tour group size is usually limited to 6 (due to restrictions on numbers of people permitted to enter the reserve) so early reservation is strongly recommended.
